DR JULIE ARGENT

MB.BS, FRACGP, MMED (SKIN CANCER)

The founding principle behind the Northern Beaches Skin Cancer Clinic, established by Dr. Julie Argent, is to offer patients like yourself the highest standard of skin cancer care. Driven by her passion for aiding in the early detection and management of skin cancer and pre-cancerous skin conditions, Julie brings with her more than 21 years of hands-on expertise as a dedicated skin cancer doctor.

She holds accreditation in skin cancer detection, diagnosis, and treatment, paired with a strong commitment to educating patients on skin cancer awareness and prevention—an increasingly important focus as skin cancer rates continue to rise.

Before establishing the clinic, Julie served as a rural general practitioner for two decades, gaining valuable experience in obstetrics, anaesthetics, elective and emergency surgery. She is an accredited Member of the Skin Cancer College of Australasia and holds a Masters in Skin Cancer Medicine from the University of Queensland.

Julie's pursuit of excellence didn't stop there. In 2016, she completed a Professional Diploma in Dermoscopy, followed by another milestone in 2023, achieving a Professional Diploma in Skin Cancer Medicine through Healthcert Australia. Her dedication to continuous learning in skin cancer medicine remains unwavering.

Aside from her professional accomplishments, Julie has embraced the joys of becoming a grandmother over the past three years, adding even more fulfillment to her life's journey. As a result, her commitment to exceptional patient care and advocacy for skin cancer awareness continues to be fueled by her passion and expertise.

DR GREG CUSICK

MBBS, BSC CHEMISTRY (HONS 1), FRACGP, ADVANCED CLINICAL CERTIFICATE OF SKIN MEDICINE & SURGERY SCCA, ADVANCED CLINICAL CERTIFICATE IN DERMOSCOPY

Dr Greg Cusick's upbringing took place in Bathurst, Central West NSW. After securing a scholarship from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) to pursue studies in Science with a focus on Pure and Applied Chemistry, he relocated to Sydney. Combining his academic pursuits with industry work, he commenced a PhD in 1995. However, after two years, he made the decision to switch gears and pursue medicine. In 2002, Greg successfully graduated from UNSW with an MBBS degree.

His journey continued as he completed his Fellowship in General Practice (FRACGP) in 2008, leading him to serve in the Tweed/Gold Coast region for an impressive 12 years. In 2010, Greg transitioned to the field of Skin Cancer Medicine, a field he is deeply passionate about. Eventually, he moved back to Sydney, joining NBSCC at the end of 2019.

Greg’s commitment to excellence is reflected in his ongoing pursuit of education and accreditation in skin cancer medicine. In 2015, he completed a Diploma in Skin Cancer Medicine and Surgery through the Skin Cancer College of Australasia. He is currently working towards achieving Fellowship status with the College, further demonstrating his dedication to advanced clinical practice.

As a recognised Accredited Skin Cancer Doctor, Greg is passionate about patient education and skin cancer awareness. He maintains comprehensive Clinical Audits on all procedures and has performed thousands of skin cancer treatments—from basic excisions to complex flaps and grafts—throughout his career.

Beyond his medical endeavors, Greg is a lover of all sports, having been a member of the Murwillimbah Golf Club for five years. Additionally, he actively contributed as an Age Manager for Nippers at the Greenmount Surf Lifesaving Club. His passion for running has seen him participate in half marathons, and in 2021, he accomplished his first marathon, "The Narrabeen All Nighter." In the comfort of his local area, Greg resides with his wife and two children, cherishing the balance between his medical career and personal life.

DR PENNY YELF

FRACGP, BSC (MED) MBBS (HONS).

Dr Yelf has over 20 years’ experience working specifically in the early diagnosis and management of skin cancer. She holds one of the highest qualifications in this field — the postgraduate Master of Medicine (Skin Cancer) from the University of Queensland — and is a member of the Skin Cancer College of Australasia.

Penny’s interest in skin cancer was first sparked as a medical student when she won an elective position at Cambridge University to study Dermatology. During this time she published medical literature and subsequently undertook research in immunotherapy.

Penny graduated from the University of New South Wales in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with Honours.

She is a Fellow of the RACGP. The holistic understanding of health that this training provides is invaluable in skin cancer care. In 2011 Penny was an accredited dermatology registrar, working at the Skin and Cancer Foundation in Darlinghurst and St Vincent’s Hospital, where she diagnosed and treated patients with a broad range of skin diseases.

Penny has worked at Northern Beaches Skin Cancer Clinic since 2017 and has particularly valued the continuity of care and the relationships she has built with patients. The exceptional technology and culture of the practice enable her to strive for the highest quality of care — something she finds extremely rewarding.

In her spare time Penny enjoys plein air painting, playing basketball, and other outdoor activities with her family

DR CAMERAN AZAD

FRACGP, MBChB, MASTER'S DEGREE SKIN CANCER MEDICINE-UNIVERSITY OF QLD, DIPLOMA IN DERMATOLOGY - AUSTRALIAN INSTITUTE OF DERMATOLOGY, PROFESSIONAL DIPLOMA IN DERMOSCOPY - HEALTHCERT, ADVANCED CLINICAL CERTIFICATE IN DERMOSCOPY- SKIN CANCER COLLEGE.  

Dr. Cameran Azad, an accredited Skin Cancer Doctor with Skin Cancer College Australasia, is duly registered with both the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and the UK-General Medical Council.

Bringing over 17 years of expertise in skin cancer and melanoma diagnosis and management, he embarked on his career after training at the Western Hospital and The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne.

He began his professional journey in the Gippsland region in 2005, where he practiced for a decade before spending the next five years working in various accredited skin cancer clinics across Sydney.

In December 2021, Dr. Azad joined the Dermatology Partnership in the UK, serving as a specialist doctor until September 2022.

Following his return to Australia in September 2022, he assumed a position at the East Gippsland Skin Cancer Clinic.

Dr. Azad holds noteworthy postgraduate qualifications, including Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, a Master of Medicine in Primary Care Skin Cancer Medicine from the University of Queensland, a Dermatology Diploma from the Australian Institute of Dermatology, and Advanced Clinical Certificates in Dermoscopy, along with a Professional Diploma in Dermoscopy.

DR CANDY KWAN

MBBS, LLB (Hons), BSc (Adv), FRACGP, DCH, DRANZCOG

Raised on the Northern Beaches, Dr Candy Kwan brings both local insight and exceptional academic achievement to her work in general practice and skin cancer care. She completed a Bachelor of Science (Advanced) and Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) at the University of Sydney, before moving to Brisbane to study Medicine at the University of Queensland.

Following hospital roles in dermatology and obstetrics and gynaecology, Candy undertook general practice training and became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. For the past nine years, she has specialised in diagnosing and managing skin cancers in primary care and completed the Certificate of Skin Cancer Medicine with the Skin Cancer College Australasia.

Warm and approachable, she is passionate about preventative health and empowering patients through education. Away from the clinic, Candy enjoys cooking, bushwalks and days at the beach with her young family.
